After eighteen months of research on food, culture and medicine; after spending most of the summer sitting at my desk; developing and taste testing (that was the fun part!) hundreds of recipes I have completed my first book entitled Nutritional Healing with Chinese Medicine with over 200 delicious recipes available for pre-order on Amazon!
This has been a labor of love that came to be after decades of teaching about food as medicine to students of Chinese medicine and people like you. This is a book for anyone who wants to learn more about Chinese medicine; the foundations of food as medicine according to traditions that have evolved over thousands of years, as well as people who love to eat good food, want to learn some new recipes and understand how to eat according to the season at hand.
This is really two books in one. The first half is text devoted to the following topics: traditions of food and healing, foundations of Chinese medicine; foundations of Chinese dietary therapy; how to eat with the seasons; chapters on re-stocking your pantry and preparing to cook; culinary ingredients and foods for common health problems.
The second half of the book has over 200 recipes organized by the season with delicious recipes for breakfast; soups; main dishes; vegetables and side dishes; snacks; tonic beverages and delicious gluten free desserts. If you are a vegan, this book can work for you. If you are vegetarian, this book can work for you. If you eat meat or just fish, this book can work for you. We emphasize quality and taste, because it is more fun to eat for health when you enjoy your food.
There are two additional unique recipe chapters; condiments which includes pickles and fermented foods; savory sprinkles, chutneys and relish and herbal vinegar so that you can adapt your meal to meet your flavor and health needs. The final recipe chapter is entitle Blood Tonic Recipes to honor women post-partum and to help rebuild strength and vitality.
