Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

The Treatment of IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME (IBS)

Are you tired of IBS? Have you had enough chronic bloating, diarrhea and/or constipation?   Have you been told by doctors that there is nothing else to do, or been given laxatives to force bowel movements, drugs to slow them, anti-depressants to address your nervous system’s role in IBS, or fiber formulas that do not address the root of your problem?

It is time to identify and treat the cause of your IBS.   There is now evidence that IBS is not just a diagnosis of exclusion, or a “functional” disorder used to label a group of symptoms because no pathological findings can be found. Researchers are showing us that small intestinal bowel overgrowth, or SIBO, is likely be the “primary cause of IBS.” [1] Other factors can also be contributing to your IBS, such as intestinal permeability, allergies, lactose or gluten intolerance, hormonal problems, stress, other abnormal bacteria, yeasts, or parasites, or problems from past gastrointestinal infections.

Let our skilled physicians help you sort it out.

EVALUATION

We will examine your IBS in the context of your total health.   You will be properly tested to determine the cause of your IBS, including tests for SIBO, intestinal permeability and allergy, other forms of dysbiosis, hormone imbalances, or other causative factors until the root of your IBS is understood.

TREATMENT

You will receive comprehensive treatment to address the your condition. In the majority of cases, a lactulose breath test shows SIBO, for which there are a variety of effective treatment options. Other contributing factors causing your IBS will be addressed in a treatment plan designed to be effective in resolving troubling symptoms.

RESULTS

Correct treatment leads to a cessation of abdominal boating, constipation, diarrhea, pain, acid reflux, nausea, and other signs and symptoms of IBS.
