What is the state of High Schooler’s health today? If you look at the facts, listen to the stories and read the headlines, it doesn’t look good. So, what do you think would happen if a high school program was put into place to improve teens’ health and wellness through exercise, nutrition, and wellness? At one high school in Portland, Oregon, their class of 240 freshman lost 1233 pounds in one school year. As a side benefit, they found their kids were happier, more focused and more energetic.
The HealthCorps program at Benson High School in Portland, Oregon coordinated by Amy Barras, and implemented by its teachers was the focus of the new documentary, Heart of the Matter, directed by Kelly Amis.
